The 3 pillars of our organization are carefully designed to be a home for everyone that wants to play this great sport and enjoy the appropriate level of instruction, competition, growth, development and fun! Our main goal is to offer lacrosse to all youth and to instill a love of the game in our players.
Bethesda Lacrosse Introductory Clinics and Scoopers Clinics are designed for new players, players that have recently picked up a stick, players that are getting back into the game and/or recreational players to brush up on their fundamentals. The clinic program is designed to teach the skills needed to play lacrosse through station work, excellent coaching, tons of reps, tons of touches on the ball and a lot of fun.
Our clinics are a great entrance to the sport of lacrosse. We will start an advanced clinic program in the fall of 2024 for our club/travel players.
Bethesda Lacrosse Rec Teams are a great way to play with friends, classmates, neighborhood buddies and to make new friends (which we think is an amazing and important tool for growth in youth sports).
Our rec teams play close to home and are for intermediate players to continue their lacrosse and athletic progression with practices and games in the fall season and spring season.
Players do not need to tryout for the recreational teams.
Bethesda Lacrosse Club (BLC) Teams are a year-round program that starts in September and ends in June/early July with training and competition throughout with your team. Club teams are determined through a tryout and evaluation process.
The club teams are for our most skilled players looking to compete at the highest level based on their team designation (blue, orange, or white).
Our mission and objective is to foster a love of lacrosse in all our players. That will always be goal #1 at Bethesda Lacrosse. We want to teach this fast paced and fun game to young people who have never played before, accommodate as many recreational players as possible, and provide top-notch competitive opportunities for advanced players. Our goal is to give our community youth a great lacrosse experience including life-long lessons of sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership.
With over 1,800 players per year (and growing), we continue to expand and enhance our hallmark programs:
Our goal is to provide great lacrosse in an environment that prioritizes developmental experience and growth as a player and as a young person. Please explore our website for more details on our specific programs.
We do not receive funding from any sources other than registration fees. We are not associated with any government entities, including Montgomery County.
Bethesda Lacrosse, formerly the Montgomery Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA), was established in 1989 in order to provide an opportunity for players in and around Montgomery County to learn about and play the great game of lacrosse.
Due to the rising level of interest in the program’s activities, a more formal organization was required. So in 2006, we incorporated as a 501(c)(3) NON PROFIT under the name - Bethesda Lacrosse Association.
